Level Design And Blockouts
The core mechanics of each insect shaped the level design. The routes for each insect also acted as gates preventing the other types of insects from exploring those areas.
The levels were designed in such a way that each insect's gameplay felt unique. This also added to the replayability of the game by letting the player experience various parts of the level based on each insect's unique abilities.
Gameplay Design
The grasshopper's ability is a leap that is used to get up and over objects. The leap allows the grasshopper to get on platforms some insects can not reach.
The grasshopper was designed to be one of the easier insects for the player to learn and play as.
The butterfly's ability is quad-directional flying.
Flying is the ability that provides the most movement, and therefore to compensate, the butterfly's objectives are tougher to reach.
The ant's ability is to climb over marked walls. These walls allow the ant to climb onto platforms that some insects cannot reach.
The ant is the easiest insect to play in the game and is very easy to get a hang of.
The spider's ability is to use a sling and grapple onto webs. This allows the spider to use webs to cover gaping holes that other insects cannot.
The spider is the hardest of the insects and his ability takes some practice to get used to. But it is also the most unique and fun!

The worm's ability is to burrow under the ground and travel through tunnels to cover a lot of distance!
The worm has one of the most unique abilities and none of the other insects can travel to the places it can go.
