Game Design Process
The game design process began with adding animations for the food items, the spatula, and the holes for the food spawning. Touch input was implemented next and a system for whacking food items back and reversing animations was made.
I created a scoring and multiplier system to reward people for whacking consecutive food items and not missing them. The multiplier resets when the player misses a food item or it hits the grill. The multiplier is affected differently by different types of food items, such as spoiled food & frozen food.
Level Design Process
The level design process started with creating a basic prototype layout. None of the team had previous experience with arcade games, so we looked at other successful arcade games. We took inspiration from them and came up with a general layout for our game.

Once the core mechanics were in place and we had a functioning game loop, I directed the artist to create assets to make a level that would fit a kitchen setting. Initially, the customer requested a realistic art style, but it was very off-putting. After a test build, I convinced them to move to a more cartoony and casual art style, which fit the theme of the game better.
